Feel the Yoga With Purva – June 2017

“OM is the bow and the arrow is the Soul.”
OM  has a powerful meaning and significance. It is considered sacred and resonates with a highly spiritual and creative energy. It is believed to represent the basic sound of the universe – the cosmic vibration that gives birth to all other sounds.

When pronounced correctly, the Sanskrit word Om is actually A-U-M and so it consists of three syllables :

A – The stretched out “a” sound begins at the back of your throat and you will start to sense your chest and solar plexus vibrating.

U – The stretched out “oo” sound will gradually resonate along your upper palate, creating vibrations in your throat.

M- The prolonged “mmmm” sound, the last syllable, is created via the transition from the ‘M’ to the deep silence of infinity.

How to chant?

Sit in any comfortable position with your head, neck, and spine aligned.
Close your eyes, inhale deeply and release your breath while executing the chant. Repeating this five times will allow you to feel the vibration of the Om sound resonating through every single cell in your body.

Chanting of the Om mantra purifies the environment around you and creates positive vibrations. The Om not only benefits the individuals who are chanting it but also the people around them. It places you in a meditational state, giving you a deep sense of relaxation. The Om chanting also removes toxins from your body.
It is said that it gives you better immunity and self healing power. It
improves your concentration and helps you focus on your goals.
